PROJECT: AT-AT Design and Simulation
CODE NAME: FOUR-STAR
DESIGNER: MATTHEW K. GRAY

With the Rebellions growing strength in the Northern sectors of the galaxy, the need for development of an All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT walker) is mandatory. The AT-AT's, primary function was to not only crush the rebellion with might, but also instill fear and superstition into the harts and minds of their troops. Designing such a vehicle to resemble a massive beast, which will shake the ground with each step, will instill the fear which we require to destroy the rebellion forever.

The four-legged transport /combat vehicle, with heavy blast-impervious armor plating, will ensure our troops are delivered successfully to their coordinated destinations. Standing a towering 15 meters tall, the AT-AT while deploying a large amount of troops and will also have the power to forward our advancing forces. The AT-AT's head carries the main armaments, a pair of medium blasters located on the walker's "temples," and heavier, twin laser cannons mounted on the walker's "chin." The command crew pilots the AT-AT from the walker's head, which is connected to the main body by a flexible neck. The crew consists of a commander, a gunner, and a pilot. Additional crews and troops can be carried in the walker's main storage bay.

Statistical Analysis and Parts List:

Vehicle Class: All Terrain Armored Transport
Height: 15 Meters
Maximum Speed: 60 Kilometers Per Hour (Over Even Terrain)
Crew: Three
Troop Capacity: 40
Weapons: Two Heavy Laser Cannons; Two Fire-Linked Medium Blasters
Unique Parts/Sub Assembly's 08
Total Parts/Sub Assembly's 19

Holographic targeting systems assist the gunners with a 360-degree view of their position. The head can rotate as much as ninety degrees right or left and thirty degrees up or down for a large field of fire. While the walker is slow in turning, this extensive field of fire enables the AT-AT to provide cover to its seemingly unprotected flanks.

Beneath the main body section are the AT-AT's two immense drive motors. Four massive legs propel the walker at up to a top ground speed of sixty kilometers per hour, although this is possible only on flat, stable terrain

This project, Code Name: Four-STAR will simulate the tactical ability of the AT-AT walker as a transport and combat vehicle.

The Simulation will consist of the walking motion of the AT-AT. Using Inverse Kinematics, connecting the toe flap, footpad, lower leg and the upper leg will aid in the animation process. Additional moving parts will consist of the head, neck, medium blasters, heavy cannons, and storage bay doors. The simulation will depict an actual battlefield where the AT-AT will display its full military capabilities.

The animation will be rendered using global illumination to accurately show the AT-AT, with its proper materials, and setting.
