Project Proposal
Arbor Press
Fadi Nayef
For my project I'm proposing to design, animate, and render an arbor press. The arbor press is compact, easy to use. The arbor press is used to press two or more things together, it is also used to punch holes through material, therefore it is widely used in real life; one can find it in almost every machine shop hand presses can also be found in private work shops(home garages). It consists of twenty six pieces including the moving parts. The base and the post are fabricated together by a process called sand casting; they are referred to as the base. The table is connected to the base by a flat head slotted screw; the gear is inserted into the post, then the sleeve is put on the gear, after that the press handle bar is inserted into the sleeve, then the spherical handle end caps are put onto the handle in order to keep it from sliding out of the sleeve then a lock washer is placed onto other side of the gear to hold it in place. Then the button is placed into the button shaft, then the button shaft is aligned with the gear, then the spacers are joined to the plate by head cap screws and two nuts, after that the plate would be secured to the post with hex cap screws. Finally the full assembly would be secured to a bench by two hex-drive socket screws. The moving parts are gear, the press handle bar, the button shaft, and the table. The gear is connected to the button shaft by the gear teeth and the button shafts teeth, the press handle is inserted through a hole in the sleeve and the gear, and the table is connected to the base by a flat head slotted screw.
