CHALLENEGE WITH RENOVATING AN EXISTING HUB BY ADDING A NEW LIBRARY, RESTAURANT AND SUSTAINABLE CENTER TO MAKE THIS RUN DOWN LOCATION INTO A LIVELY MORE ACTIVE AND ENVIRONMENTLY FRIENDLY SPACE THAT TARGET ALL AUDIENCES.

BASED ON CURRENT TRENDS ON COMMUNITY CENTERS WE AS A DESIGN TEAM DEICDED TO FEATURE DIFFERENT DESIGN AND MASH THEM TOGETHER TO CREATE A UNQUIE AND BOLD DESIGN. OUR MAIN GOAL WAS TO GIVE THIS COMMUNTY A COLOURFUL AND MORE APPEALING DEISGN BY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE AMOUNT OF SPACE WE WERE GIVEN AND THE EXISTING FEATURES OF THE SITE.

FROM THE 1 1/2 STOREY EXISTING RESIDENCE BUILDING, LOCATED IN MISSISAUGA, ON, WE ARE CHALLENGE TO RENOVATE THIS 30+ YEAR HOME INTO A MORE MODERN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN. ONE WHERE WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT WE HAVE AND HOW WE 'VE USE IT.BASED ON OUR CLIENTS NEEDS WE FIRST PLAN THE MASSING OF THE NEW BUILDING. DURING THIS PHRASE WE ANALYSIS AND STRATEGIES THE BEST PLAN THAT WOULD FIT A TYPICAL FAMILY OF 4. IN THIS CASE WE TOOK 4 MASSES AND ASSIGN THEM ROLES AS SEEN IN THE MODEL.

DOWNTOWN TORONTO WHERE CONVENIENCE MEETS COMFORTABLE, A PLACE WHERE RESTAURANTS, GROCERY STORES, OFFICES AND EVEN YOUR OWN GYM ARE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE IF NOT JUST A FEW MINUTES OF TRANSIT AWAY. FOR THIS DEVELOPMENT, IT BEST SUITS OUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD ARTISTS AROUND TORONTO.HOWEVER, IT’S ALSO CAPABLE TO HOUSE MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EITHER ART FRIENDLY OR JUST WANT THEIR OWN SUITE WHERE EVERYTHING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
WE DESIGN OUR BUILDING TO SYMBOLIC THE CITY TRADITIONAL WAY EVOLVING INTO A NEWER, MORE MODERN LOOK. WE USE RED BRICKS AND WOOD SIDING TO ALLOW THE BUILDING TO FLOW IN WITH THE NEIGHBOURS. DUE TO THE CITY’S SETBACKS WE HAD TO PUSH BACK OUR BUILDING AREA FOR THE 4-6 FLOORS HOWEVER, WE USE THAT TO OUR ADVANTAGE, IN WHICH WE USE THAT SPACE FOR OUR BALCONIES/TERRACES TO ALLOW OUR ARTISTS AND OTHER TO ENJOY THE OUTSIDE WORLD WITHOUT LEAVING THE COMFORT OF THEIR HOME.
