The Canvas - Studio 5

Located on the avenue of Toronto's Queen Street West, the objective was to develop a building that feeds from and serves the rich cultural context of the surrounding area. As development begins to transform the neighborhood, it was of chief concern to develop a building that serves the residents of Queen Street West as a unique utility.

Ninth Line Community Centre - Studio 4

This building serves the Mississauga as a utility for the surrounding suburban community, offering a library, event spaces, daycare services, and more. The building serves as a centerpiece for an extensively planned site, which includes 2 soccer fields, a dog park, and a trail through the park.

This project is located in Georgian Bluffs and targets the passive house standard. My concept was to challenge conventional practice in the formation of a super-insulated house. Often design sensibility is sacrificed in order to achieve a low surface to volume ratio. Instead, I decided to segment the structure into two halves and make up for the lost insulative value with sun spaces that bridge the two halves.
