Construction of Roofs

Two basic construction systems for roofs are:

Manufactured Pre-Assembled Roof Trusses

Roof Truss - Assembly

Assembly-line for manufactured pre-assembled roof truss. Mouse-over.

Roof Truss - Delivery

Manufactured roof trusses will be delivered tot he construction site as a package.

It is important to notice that in some instances a lead time is required for trusses to be manufactured and shipped to a site.

Roof Truss - Installation

Manufactured pre-assembled roof truss are installed with the assistance of a portable crane.

Mouse-over.

Stick Built on Site

Rafter Framed Roof

Roofs can be framed directly on site as opposed to using roof trusses.

Rafter framed roofs are not as popular as they were in the past.

Shape of Manufactured Trusses or Rafter Roofs

Before proceeding look at the following front elevations and decide if the roofs could be framed with:

  1. roof rafters framed on-site
  2. or manufactured pre-assembled trusses

Roof Sheathing
