"By the end of the module, Learners will be able to:
Contents
1. Light Gauge Steel Structure
2. Pre-Cast Concrete Structure
3. Foundations

1. Light Gauge Steel Framing Shown above is the Sunnybrook hospital as taken from the BMP-group.com website
Referring to "the architects studio companion" for approximate sizing determine the following:
Recommend Exterior wall stud sizes
suggest floor systems assembly options
Sloped roof framing options (trusses)
flat roof framing options
or refer to Bailey Metal Products website for more information and details
2. Site Cast Concrete

Referring to "the architects studio companion" for approximate sizing determine the following:
recommended Slab thickness
column sizes and spacing
drop panels or capitals or perimeter beams (are they necessary?)

Place columns from given floor plans onto sketch framing diagram.
Assume grid spacing.
Determine the following:
slab span direction
slab thickness
slab width
approximate column an beam sizes
method of cantilever at the floating wall
refer to the Coreslab Ontario Inc. website for further information.
and the Canadian Pre-cast Concrete Institute at www.cpci.ca
Also refer to page 133 in "the architects studio companion" for approximate sizing.
