TASK 04 - Representative Working Drawings for the Maclean Residence - Floorplans

You are to prepare a representative set of working drawings for a detached, single family residence. The clients, the Macleans, have a building in South California, USA similar to the design shown in the drawings given in class. Your job is to create the same design here in Mississauga, Ontario but with several modifications.

The first stage of preparing the working drawings is to layout a co-ordinated set of base drawings indicating the overall outlines of walls, windows and other openings for the plans, elevations and sections.

This stage (called design development) looks at the overall project and tries to identify and co-ordinate the various parts of the building and general construction issues before more detailed information is added to the working drawings.

Once this stage is completed,you will be able to create a proper working drawing.

Project Data:

• The drawings will be created on a 'D' size sheet. By printing these drawings at a scale of 1:2 (halfsize), we can create the necessary 11"x17" ('B' size) draft plots on the laser printer.
   
• Only a subset of the working drawings will be created - the goal in this project is not to create a full working drawing set, but a representative set that covers the important CADD related concepts and issues in creating working drawings.

In this task, using the preliminary design drawings handed out in class, prepare a working drawing of the ground floor plan of the MacLean Residence. Drawing scale is to be 1/4"=1'.

Titles:

• Sheet number to be "A02", and sheet title is "First Floor Plan".

Revised Layout for new site:

• Rotate garage structure 31 degrees relative to main dwelling area.
• Provide bend in link to garage between Powder Room and Laundry Room.
  • Locate bend point on north wall of link approximately 5'-0" from garage and 9'-0" from main dwelling.
• Powder Room - maintain a 5' x 5' square room.
• Exterior Dimensions:
  • maintain overall exterior dimensions.
  • make link to garage 12'-4" wide - relocate south wall 2'- 4".
• Laundry Room / Mud Room - Add an exterior door with steps to the back yard.
• Provide a full basement below main building:
  • Relocate furnace and hot water tank to basement.
  • Delete closet next to stairs and replace with stairs to basement.
• Grade:
• Assume grade is level adjacent to dwelling.
• Assemblies:
• Exterior cladding to be face brick.
• Other assemblies to be as agreed to in class.

Submit a single drawing file named:

where xxxxxxxx is your login account name.

Only the contents of this drawing file will be graded. Furthermore, you will need these drawings to complete further tasks.

Submit a PDF file (plot of the floorplan on 11 " x 17" paper). Use an appropriate scale and a proper working drawing titleblock (ANSI-D size) that is filled in.

• A deduction of 30% will be assessed If the one pdf plot is not submitted with the CAD drawing file.
