CADD26909 - Architectural
Drafting 3 - CAD
Each team is to produce
the structural roof steel plan complete with a beam schedule, a joist schedule and the notes. The drawings and text are to fit
into your group's standard metric titleblock inserted into paperspace.
- Modify the GRIDxx.DWG.
- All gridlines (for all columns) should have a designation. For example, the two extra gridlines between Grids D and E in the Preliminary Structural Foundation Plan drawing should be called Dx and Dy.
- Create a new secondary
gridbubble layer. (for example if your first gridbubble layer was A00GRIDBUBBLE,
create a new one called A00GRIDBUBBLE2). If you already have a layer called A00GRIDBUBBLE2, then use the name A00GRIDBUBBLE-SECONDARY.
- Add in all the secondary
grids and label each gridline. Adjust the new gridbubbles so that they line
up separately from the primary ones.
- Using Microsoft Excel (or Microsoft Word), create one table for the Notes. Save the Excel spreadsheet as 20xxS02.XLS.
- Create the following
attributed block:
- beamdata block.
- Contains four attributes: beamtype, beamdepth, beamweight, and beamlength.
- Create the following
attributed block:
- joistdata block.
- Contains two attributes: joisttype, joistlength.
- Office area roof
plan
- Create a drawing called 20xxOFS2.DWG
- XREF the modified GRIDxx.DWG, clip the grid and freeze any unnecessary layers.
- Using the freehand sketch of the roof plan prepared by the Structural Engineer (the preliminary Structural Roof Steel Plan) and any roof details you have, draw the office area roof steel plan.
- Draw the structural walls.
- Draw the joist bridging.
- Draw the steel perimeter angle.
- Using the beamdata block created by member A, mark all the beams on the drawing.
- Using the joistdata block created by member A, mark all the beams on the drawing.
- Add any misc. notes pertaining to the structure.
- Office roof beam extraction: In the 20xxOFS2.DWG file:
- Create a new layer called S02-roofBeams-Office
- Extract the beam data to a table and place the table in modelspace.
- Warehouse area roof steel
plan
- Create a drawing
called 20xxWHS2.DWG
- XREF the modified GRIDxx.DWG (see member A), clip the grid and freeze the unnecessary layers.
- Using the freehand sketch of the roof plan prepared by the Structural Engineer (the preliminary Structural Roof Steel Plan) and any roof details you have, draw the warehouse area roof steel plan.
- Draw the structural walls.
- Draw the joist bridging.
- Draw the steel perimeter angle.
- Draw the steel deck.
- Using the beamdata block created by member A, mark all the beams on the drawing.
- Using the joistdata block created by member A, mark all the beams on the drawing.
- Add any misc. notes pertaining to the structure.
- Prepare assembled drawing 20xxS02.DWG which has:
- Titleblock in Layout
- Job no on sheet to read 20xx. Use the team's title block prepared for
the Office Manual. Title of the drawing to be "Structural Roof Steel
Plan". Fill in the rest of the titleblock properly
- Viewport showing
complete roof plan zoomed at 1:100 scale.
XREF in 20xxOFS2.DWG
and 20xxWHS2.DWG
(Note: all xrefs should be accessed using the current directory - no paths)
- Using Windows cut
and paste, copy the notes from 20xxS02.XLS (created
by member A) into the roof steel plan drawing (20xxS02.DWG).
- Add necessary notes (as shown on the preliminary structural steel roof plan).
- Freeze the layer in the 20xxOFS2 xref called S02-roofBeams-Office
- Extract all the beam data and place in a table under the roof steel plan.
Extract all the joist data and place in a table under the roof steel plan.
NOTE:
Based on the
above tasks there will be a great deal of cooperation, scheduling and coordination
of the various responsibilities between the two members of the team. The team's
first action when you start this task should be to prepare a plan and time
schedule outlining who does what and when, as one member cannot proceed with
some assigned responsibilities without getting the information from the other
member of the team... This cooperation is crucial and is the element of success
needed for completion of the task.
Due dates:
Member A: submit all your CAD files related to Task 7 (office roof plan) and send a copy of the files to member B.
Note: if you do NOT send a copy to your Member B you will get a zero for this part of the assignment.
Member B: submit all your CAD files related to Task 7 (warehouse roof plan)
- Gridxx.DWG
- Assembled Drawing 20xxS02.DWG
- Individual
drawings 20xxOFS2.DWG and 20xxWHS2.DWG
- PDF checkplot of Assembled
Drawing 20xxS02.DWG
- PDF plots of individual
drawings 20xxOFS2.DWG and 20xxWHS2.DWG
- Transmittal form. NOTE: Assigment will not be accepted without a properly filled in transmittal form!
- Each team must hand in all the files from the TEAM in ONE folder. Individual submissions of files are meaningless.
- Keep multiple
backup copies of all drawings.
- Do NOT email the file to the Instructor - create a compressed (ZIP) folder and place it in SLATE. Due to the size of the files and the number of referenced files this semester, emailing the files is not an option and any files recieved by email will be ignored.
