Paisley Mills Adaptive Reuse

In semester 6, we were tasked with creating a reuse project of the empty silo attatched to the mill. Pailey Mills is located at Bruce Rd. 1, Brockton, Ontario, just off of the Teeswater river west of the town of Paisley. A major emphisis was put onto creating a usable space for the community to enjoy on the inside and the surrounding environment.

Lake Wilcox Cafe

In semester 6 we were tasked with choosing a site than meant something to us and try to create a structure that would provide what was missing or could be added to the site. The location I chose was Lake Wilox in Richmond Hill Ontario. I chose this location because I grew up here and hold many memories of the surrounding area. The project includes heavy site analysis, conceptual sketeches, model making, connection to site and community, etc.

Queen St. West Residence

In semester 5 we were tasked to create a mid rise, mixed use building on the corner of Queen St, West and Fenning St. in Toronto, Ontario. There was a large focus on shaping the form to avoid the ash tree on the corner while maximizing views, sun and space for the living units on the upper floors. Considerations were put into limiting the amount of shadows being cast onto the detatched homes behind the building aswell as making sure we comply with Toronto's midrise guidelines.

Indian Grove Renovation

In semester 5 we were tasked to renovate a small bungalo, located on Indian Grove, Mississauga. The first step was the have a consultation with the clients to discuss their needs, wants, likes, dislikes, etc. Then we had to do an on site visit to capture photos, accuratly record measurements, and illustrate the floor plan of the existing house. We then used our measurements and photos to draft the house and create a virtual 3D model using Auto Cad and Revit. Once we had created the existing house using these softwares, we used the clients inputs to develope the new addition/renovation. There was a focus on using the unused space on the property, making sure the house matched the neighbi=ourhood, and including various new rooms such as a large kitchen, guest rooms, theatre, server room, etc.
